Back in August I had the opportunity to review a Gaston Custom Call Single Reed. The single reed call scored pretty well, had a good sound, and showed excellent craftsmanship. After talking with David about his calls and different styles of calling he sent me out a couple of different inserts to try. I fell in love with the double reed insert immediately. Both the calls to the right are double reeds. But each has a little different cut reed.
The
SoundI really like the sound of these calls. They are very easy to blow and control. You can hit the high balls or the raspy comebacks. David still hand makes all his calls and you see the grooves from his file on the tone board. And after hunting with these calls a couple of weeks I had very few problems with them sticking. I believe not polishing the tone board back slick really cuts down on the sticking problem. These are some great sounding calls. They should be easily blown by all duck hunters. These files should open in Windows Media Player.

This is one of the best duck calls I have blown. It is right up there with my old meat getting Flextone Double Reed. I really like the versatility of the call and the ease of blowing it. If you are looking for a quality acrylic duck call look no further.Popularity: 1% [?]
