A first hunt to remember!

I came in from work Wednesday evening in a rush to get all my stuff loaded up for my first duck hunt of the season. I have been extremely busy and a little under the weather and just haven’t been able to go until now. I couldn’t wait to get to the Delta, do some hunting with my good buddy Clint, and take some guys I work with on a good hunt. But even better my daughter Kailee had talked her mom into letting her tag along for the trip.
Kailee hadn’t ever been on a duck hunt and in most cases I wouldn’t let her go, but we were staying at a great camp and had good blinds. She could stay warm, dry, hopefully have a good time. I was also bring my young lab Belle on what I hoped would be her first good hunt.
Thursday started off slow. The wind was wrong and the ducks wouldn’t work. We checked out some of the other blinds and find some ducks to hunt that afternoon. After a good lunch we loaded up and went back out. We got some ducks up when we reached the blind, so we were hoping for a good hunt. Unfortunately things didn’t get a whole lot better, but we did shoot some woodies and shovelers. Belle got to get some ducks, and everyone got to shoot some.
Friday morning was about the same, with the exception of a few mallards to go with the shovelers and woodies. Still I had a good time hunting with some friends and most importantly spending some good time teaching my daughter about some the great things God has given us.
